PINK MUST KARAOKE OF THE BENDS

Brooklyn sound artists Mari Maurice Rubio (aka More Eaze) and Lynn Avery (aka Iceblink) announce their self-titled debut LP as Pink Must, alongside lo-fi masterpiece 'Karaoke of the Bends'. Conjuring the heavy mood of bedroom pop greats Elliot Smith and Alex G, breathtaking Owen Pallett-esque strings elevate the piece to blissed-out heights. Rubio explains: “Lynn kept teasing this song as we were working on the record and I was dying to work on it. I came up with a crazy overlapping string arrangement that’s constantly sliding up and down simultaneously, and added pedal steel and a single line of vocals/text that I feel like kind of amplifies the longing for closeness that Lynn’s lyrics portray. It’s all about that moment where you’re singing a song you’ve heard/sung a million times but then realize that it’s different because you’re now singing it for someone. I love this song, and I feel like Lynn captured a very specific sense of longing." Avery finishes: "It’s that kind of corny ‘I know I’ll see you soon, but I want to see you tonight’ feeling and doing karaoke of songs from The Bends by Radiohead. Singing your own songs still kind of feels like doing karaoke.”  Allow yourself a moment of reflection and relax to 'Karaoke of the Bends' as we count down the days to the arrival of the album on the 28th of February. -Holly Mullineaux
